Have you ever made a critical mistake on something really important, and it turned out that the mistake you made was so basic and simple in nature, that embarrassment and shameful regret were the feelings that overwhelmed you?
If you are a critical thinker, keep reading. I believe you will come to realize, (as I did) that what is commonly called the "un-interrupted 7 day weekly cycle since creation," is not only a fraud, but that it is a blatant and embarrassingly obvious fraud, or myth if you prefer and, that it cannot be otherwise to those who are seeking the truth and not merely smooth words.
Let us start by asking ourselves a question such as;
"Where on the surface of the earth does the day begin?"
When we stop to think about it for a moment, we realize that while the sun rises in one part of the earth, it is simultaneously setting in another part of the earth. So where would the first sunrise in the world occur? Of course in recent times, humans have created a construct of human reason and imagination which they call "The International Date Line" and we will talk more about the IDL in a moment. But again, where on the earth, (if there is such a place) would the day begin? Without a starting line and finish line, there really is no reference point from where to say with confidence "The day began here."
In the past several centuries from about the mid 1500's, there have been many thousands of human built vehicles (mostly ships) that have circumnavigated the earth. (Not considering space vehicles). For the first few centuries during this new era of travel history, when sailors arrived back home from a circumnavigation voyage, they were confronted with a phenomenon of either being one day ahead, or one day behind of those who stayed home and didn't travel. Despite keeping meticulous navigation logs they could not seem to account for the missing day, or in some cases the extra day.
It didn't take long for people to realize that by traveling the same direction around the world as the sun appears to travel (west), they are in essence, missing one whole sunrise and sunset, and by doing so, putting themselves and those who stayed home, on different days of the week. And if the traveler sailed around the world going east, he would have witnessed one extra sunrise and sunset. But in either case, the traveler and those who stayed home, are now living in different days of the week.
Although the first known discovery of this phenomenon was recorded in the 12th century, it wasn't until the early to mid 1800's that it became common knowledge among sailors who were well aware of this phenomenon and were now taking it into their consideration when crossing the largest and most natural place that the phenomenon occurred, the Pacific Ocean. They knew that when they crossed this ocean, they would then be living on a different day of the week. It became a sort of an unofficial date line that they dubbed "the calendrical paradox". The sailors would automatically adjust their calenders as they saw land after crossing the Pacific Ocean.
In the late 1800's, countries began to talk with each other about making the date line an official institution of international travel that would be agreed upon by international treaty. Finally, the "International Date Line" was made official. Since 1900 It has been adjusted and changed shape no less than 4 times.
As you can see from the 1995 adjustment of the IDL, the change that was made to it was not only recent, but was also the most dramatic. Near the equator the IDL makes an almost 3000 mile detour to the east before heading south again.
All of this historical information concerning the IDL is very interesting, but what concerns us the most is how does the starting and finishing reference point of the IDL affect the 7 day weekly cycle? We should also consider a number of other (rhetorical) questions that will give us a better perspective.
1) What reference point did God use as the starting point of the day, which in turn also starts the week, the month, the year etc, prior to the existence of the IDL?
2) Did God design the IDL?
3) Did God make it zig zag through the Pacific Ocean to avoid islands, and confusion?
4) Why Did God change its course 3 times before designing its final course?
5) Why did God wait until 1995 to complete the final course of the IDL?
6) Is it really final?
7) Were all of the Sabbath keepers on the islands that were included or excluded by the previous courses of the IDL worshiping on the wrong day of the week ever since they were inhabited a 1000+ years earlier?
All of these questions bring to mind at least 3 major concerns with the "un-interrupted weekly cycle theory".
1) If the IDL didn't exist, people all over the world would be living on different days of the week.
2) It requires a construct of "human reason" and imagination in order to "appear" to synchronize people who travel with people who are stationary.
3) If it requires a construct of human reason to be accurate, than it cannot be of God.
When someone crosses the IDL, if they are traveling west, they are required by international agreement to accept however many hours of the day are left, as the next day.
Example #1: If you are traveling west and it is Friday and you cross the IDL at 11:00 pm, it then becomes Saturday at 11:00 pm. The result is a 6 day week. It might at first appear to be a 7 day week with one day divided into 2 unequal parts, but because you have only witnessed 6 sunrises and 6 sunsets, it is only a 6 day week. 1 hour of Friday was given to Saturday, making Friday a 23 hour day, and Saturday a 1 hour day. Or someone could say it was a 7 day week with 5 days of 24 hours, 1 day of 23 hours and 1 day with 1 hour. However, you would have to concede that only 6 of the days were determined by a sunrise and a sunset, and the last day was determined by an imaginary line that was agreed upon by the kings of the earth. Where is the real 7th day?
Example #2: If you are traveling east and it's Friday and you cross the IDL at 11:00 pm, it then becomes Thusday at 11:00 pm, and you are required to re-live the last hour of Thusday and the first 23 hours of Friday again, before seeing Saturday. The result is an 8 day week, with 7 work days before the sabbath.
Example #3: There are 2 small islands in the Bearing Straight between Russia and Alaska. They are called the Diomede Islands. Big Diomede on the east belongs to Russia, and Little Diomede on the west belongs to Nome Alaska. They are less than 3 miles apart. The people who live on these 2 different islands are watching the same sunrises and same sunsets everyday. However, the IDL runs right between them, therefore they are on different days of the week. Friday morning sunrise on Little Diomede is the holy time of Saturday for Big Diomede, and when it is the holy time of Saturday for Little Diomede, it is already Sunday for Big Diomede, all the while watching the same sunrises and sunsets. Did God design for the people of these 2 islands that are within swimming distance of each other to worship Him on 2 different days of the week?
If the IDL was part of God's plan to preserve the 7 day weekly cycle, you would naturally think that it would be located 180 degrees to the east of Jerusalem, which would also place it 180 west of Jerusalem. But that isn't what we find. Instead we find that it is only 150 degrees east of Jerusalem and 210 degrees west of Jerusalem. That puts the IDL by time zones, only 10 hours east of Jerusalem and 14 hours to the west of Jerusalem, zig zags not included.
In an average day there are about 5000 commercial airline flights in the air around the world at any given time. About 200 of those flights cross the IDL everyday. If we take a low average of 150 persons per flight and X's 200 flights, that shows us that at least 30,000 people cross the IDL every day. That doesn't include the dozen or so high capacity cruise liners that can hold up to 6000 persons each, or navy aircraft carriers and other large navy vessels etc. If we multiply that number 30,000 X's the 365 days in a solar year, we can see that 10.9 million people cross the IDL each year. What we need to recognize is that, that means that 10.9 million people each year are experiencing either a 6 day week, or an 8 day week, and in the case of round trips, both.
Is that part of God's plan?
Question: Are the people that cross the IDL every year observing the correct day of the week as the 7th day sabbath before, or after they cross the IDL?
If we say both, we are being intellectually dishonest. Is it even remotely conceivable that crossing an imaginary line, that only exists in the minds of men, that zig zags through the middle of the Pacific ocean, that didn't exist or was even imagined for the first 5,700 years of earths history, that is not mentioned or even eluded to in scripture, can be the mechanism that God has ordained to synchronize the 7 day weekly cycle for every human on the planet?
No, of course not...
Question: What do you suppose would have happened if man had decided not create the "imaginary date line?"
Answer: Men all around the world would be living on, and worshiping on different days of the week based on the number of sunrises' and sunsets' that they and their ancestors had observed up to that point.
Since the late 1800's when circumnavigation voyage became common place, their have been millions upon millions of people that have crossed the international date line including myself twice. Yes, I lived through a 6 day week while traveling west, and then several months later, we lived through an 8 day week going east. Is that God's will? I don't think so...
Wouldn't it be nice if God had just placed a giant stone calender in the sky that would fly across the sky once a day to be a witness unto all nations?
He did, it's called the moon, and here's what it looks like.
Notice the perfect symmetry of the quarterly phases of the moon that announce the sabbath days.
1st workday of month
of the month
of the month
of the month
last day of the month
The Sabbaths are lunar events, falling on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th days of EVERY lunar/solar (biblical) month. In each month there are 4 weeks and these weeks are separated from the weeks of the next month by new moon days which are not counted as week days.
This is the only calendar that Yahuwah ever
ordained in scripture
Gen 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs,(H226 Owth) and for seasons,(H4150 Mo'edim) and for days, and years:
Moon - Signs and seasons. (weeks and months)
Sun - Days and years.
Exo 31:13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign(H226 Owth) between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
Lev 23:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Lev 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts(H4150 Mo'edim) of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.
Lev 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.
Brothers and Sisters, the weekly sabbath is not only a weekly feast(H4150 Mo'ed), it is also a sign(H226 Owth) between Yahuwah and His children that He is their God that does sanctify them.
Duet 19:15 ...at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.
Gen 1:14 provides 2 witnesses. Signs(H226 Owth), and feasts(H4150 Mo'edim).
THE MATTER IS ESTABLISHED by the word of Yahuwah. One of the 2 lights in the heavens (sun or moon) will determine which days of the month are the 7th day sabbaths.
Q. Is it the sun, or the moon?
Psa 104:19 He appointed the moon for seasons(H4150 Mo'edim, which includes the weekly sabbaths): the sun knoweth his going down. (end of the day)
Why do we look to one part of Yahuwahs' calendar (the sun) to determine when His holy sabbaths start and end, but then look to an unholy, unclean, pagan/papal, Jesuit designed calendar to determine what days of the pagan month are Yahuwahs' sabbaths???
Eze 22:26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.
